Minnesota Duluth senior outside hitter Kate Lange of Hibbing was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II player of the week after leading the Bulldogs to a 4-0 record this past weekend in the West Florida Tournament.

Lange was named tournament most valuable player after having 83 kills in Pensacola, Fla., surpassing 1,500 for her career. Two of UMD's victories were against teams ranked in the AVCA Top 25 poll.

Lange earned national player of the week honors once last season as well. She is the only Bulldog to receive the honor since 2007.

UMD, which moved up two spots to No. 2 in the latest AVCA poll, returns to action Friday at the Wisconsin-Parkside Tournament in Kenosha, Wis.
