Hells Angels stopped for minor traffic violations

At least 10 motorcycles involved in the Hells Angels USA Run in Cloquet were stopped Wednesday for minor traffic violations, the Minnesota State Patrol said this morning.

At least 10 motorcycles involved in the Hells Angels USA Run in Cloquet were stopped Wednesday for minor traffic violations, the Minnesota State Patrol said this morning.

"There was nothing major," Sgt. Mark Baker said, "just traffic issues."

During the traffic stops, Baker said, officers found legal knives and ball-peen hammers.

"I'm not aware of anything illegal," Baker said of items found during traffic stops.

There have been no confrontations between the Hells Angels and the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, a rival gang which has set up in Northwestern Wisconsin, Baker said.

"Not to my knowledge," Baker said, "they have not been in contact with each other."

Authorities only will pull over motorcycles that violate the law, Baker reiterated.

"We need to have a traffic violation," he said. "We have to have a legitimate reason. It isn't because they are wearing colors. It's only because a traffic violation is involved."
