The latest winter storm to affect the Northland moved out of the region overnight after dropping more than 9 inches in some parts of the region - but far less than that in the Twin Ports.
The National Weather Service reported 9.2 inches of snow at Bruno, in Pine County, and 9 inches at Hayward. A spotter in Maple, in northern Douglas County, reported 6.8 inches of snow. But the official snow total at the Duluth airport thrugh 7 a.m. was just 1.7 inches. And areas to the north received a dusting or less.
All warnings and advisories for the region have expired.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported fair driving conditions in the Duluth area and along the Interstate 35 corridor this morning. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported snow-covered highways in Northwestern Wisconsin.
Skies should start to clear today across the Northland, with highs in the low 30s forecast for the Twin Ports. Highs may climb to near 40 degrees on Thursday under partly sunny skies before a clipper-type storm system moves in Thursday night. That storm system may drop 1 to 3 inches of snow across the region late Thursday into Friday morning.
