The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a heat advisory for the Twin Ports, to be in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Monday as temperatures are forecast to climb into the 90s.

The advisory also includes all of Northwestern Wisconsin; Cloquet and areas along the Interstate 35 corridor toward the Twin Cities; and the Aitkin and Brainerd areas.

While temperatures climb into the 90s - perhaps the upper 90s in areas south of the Twin Ports - high humidity may raise heat indices above 100 degrees at times Monday afternoon and evening.

There is a chance of thunderstorms across the area on Monday evening, and conditions should be much cooler on Tuesday. Highs are forecast to reach only the upper 70s on Tuesday in Duluth.
