More than 1,200 Northland residents are expected to turn out on Saturday for the American Heart Association's Start! Heart Walk.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth, with registration starting at 8 a.m. A health fair with free screenings and health information will take place from 8 to 11 a.m.
The noncompetitive event includes walks of up to three miles and a 5K fun run. Snacks and beverages will be provided to participants. The event is expected to raise $150,000. Teams of walkers are signed up from 49 companies.
People still can form teams or just show up to participate. There is no charge to participate, but donations are encouraged.
