Ah, yes, the power of candy.
Despite less-than-desirable weather last Saturday afternoon, hundreds of costumed children descended upon Lake Superior Zoo for this year's first Boo at the Zoo celebration.
In addition to trick-or-treating, a haunted hay ride and creepy critters, this annual event at Lake Superior Zoo also features a costume contest, pumpkin treats for the animals (the ones in the cages) and -- believe it or not -- food that's not actually candy.
If you missed out on the fun, don't sweat it: There's one more Boo at the Zoo this year, to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Cost is $7 per person (free for adult zoo members), and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Organizers recommend purchasing advance tickets -- available at the zoo, at Little Store and Wells Fargo locations and www.lszoo.org .
