If you have idea on how to improve Duluth's parks and recreation programs, then you can apply for a piece of $60,000 in grant money for projects .

The Parks Fund Neighborhood Grant Project money comes from the city's dedicated parks fund as it partners with the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. The foundation will gather ideas on projects and help make decisions on which ones to award money.

The submission deadline is Oct. 1.

Proposals will be reviewed by a committee with recommendations for funding presented to the Parks Commission and then the City Council for final approval from the council.

There are some proposal requirements:

Projects must take place entirely or primarily on existing recognized units of Duluth's parks, recreation and trails system.

They must support the mission of parks and recreation to "fulfill the essential recreational, educational, cultural and environmental needs that create a dynamic community."

Projects also must encourage financial and volunteer efforts.
