Erik Hovet tossed a four-hitter as Grand Rapids shut out Duluth East 4-0 in the Section 7AAA Elite Eight high school baseball tournament Saturday night at Legion Field in Grand Rapids.
The top-ranked Thunderhawks (21-1), who were seeded third, a spot behind the Greyhounds (17-5), scored two runs on wild pitches and stole home on a double steal to clinch a spot in the winners' bracket final Tuesday. Grand Rapids will play top-seeded Cambridge-Isanti at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
East (17-5) will face Andover in an elimination game at noon at Isanti.

Gabe Wood allowed four hits and struck out eight, and Kyle Figgins drove in three runs on two hits as the host Thunderhawks opened the tournament with a five-inning win.

The Greyhounds scored three runs in the seventh to tie the game, then Adam Zwak drove in Jon Tisak with the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in the win at Cohasset.
Tisak drove in Matt Kilpo to tie the game at 5 in the seventh and earned the victory in relief. Skyler Murray homered for East.
* Forest Lake eliminated Anoka 9-2, rallying to score nine straight runs.

Bryan Bauers' grand slam in the top of the ninth lifted the Trojans to the 7AAA win at Cohasset.
Mike Andreiko pitched all nine innings, scattering eight hits for the win.
* Andover eliminated Chisago Lakes with a 7-2 victory.

Tyler Swanson drove in Peter Johnson with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to lift the top seeds past the Trojans at Grand Rapids.
Richie Anderson had two hits and drove in three runs for the Trojans (5-17).
The victory clinched home field for the Bluejackets (21-1) in Tuesday's final four round.
