A Grand Rapids man died Thursday from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident last weekend.
Donald F. Boyer, 68, and his wife Donnell, 65, both were injured when their trike-style motorcycle ran off the road and struck a downed tree in Crow Wing County.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the 1994 Honda operated by Donald Boyer was northbound on Minnesota Highway 6 a couple of miles north of Crosby just after 1 p.m. when Boyer started pulling over to the side of the road. The motorcycle lurched and went downhill into a grassy ditch and struck a downed tree. Boyer and his wife were thrown from the motorcycle.
The Boyers, who both were wearing helmets, were taken to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby with what the Patrol initially called non-life-threatening injuries, but Donald Boyer later died of due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Crosby Police Department and Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office were among the other agencies assisting at the accident scene.
