W.W. Grainger Inc. will close its West Duluth branch in August, a spokesman for the Illinois-based company confirmed today.

The company, which is a business-to-business distributor of products such as safety gloves, ladders, motors and janitorial supplies, will close the Duluth facility on Aug. 19, said Joe Micucci, director of external affairs.

The closing will affect seven employees, four of whom have decided to retire after the branch closes, he said. Two others have found other positions within Grainger and the seventh still is searching for another job.

"The company is evaluating its investments regularly, given changing market conditions and customer purchasing habits," Micucci said in an email.
