Ashley Grimm has received the DFL endorsement for the St. Louis County Board seat covering the western half of Duluth.

It's officially a nonpartisan election, but Grimm received the support of 69% of delegates at the virtual Minnesota Senate District 7 DFL convention.

Grimm manages family and employment programming at the Damiano Center and serves as vice chair of the city of Duluth's Human Rights Commission. Former Duluth City Councilor Noah Hobbs also was seeking the DFL endorsement.

Two other candidates, Joe Macor and Eric Erkkila, have also announced campaigns for the District 3 commissioner seat after incumbent Beth Olson opted against seeking reelection.

Candidates have from May 19 to June 2 to formally file for the election. Assuming at least three enter, a primary will be held Aug. 11.
