The St. Louis County Board will hold two public meetings in December on its 2020 proposed tax levy and operating budget.

The first meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia in the lower-level conference room. The second meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday Dec. 5 at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth in the County Board room on the second floor.

Both meetings will include a presentation as well as a time for citizens to ask questions and provide comments to the board members, according to a news release from the county. Citizens who can't attend the meetings can also provide input at any board meeting or by contacting commissioners.

The board is scheduled to vote on the final levy and budget at the Dec. 17 meeting.

In September the board set the maximum levy at $145.6 million, which is a 6.45% increase from 2019. Due to growth in the county's property tax base, the impact is expected to be less than 3% for property owners, according to the release.
