Phifer, female candidates featured on Time cover

Candidate for Congress Leah Phifer will be featured on the cover of Time Magazine’s Jan. 29 issue alongside dozens of other women who have decided to run for elected office. The collage of women is used to illustrate the cover story, titled “The Avengers,” highlighting the unprecedented number of women who have decided to run for elected office for the first time, said a Phifer campaign news release.

The article marks the first anniversary of the Women’s March.

A native of Two Harbors, Phifer is challenging incumbent Rick Nolan, DFL-Crosby, for the endorsement of the 8th Congressional District Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

“Our neighbors and friends are counting on us to take advantage of the opportunity that 2018 presents, to elect the bold leaders who will carry us into the future,” Phifer said in the news release. “I’m running to restore that hope and trust in a system that has overlooked too many for  too long. I look forward to building that future.”
