Employees working at Goodwill at 700 Garfield Ave. said that around 11 a.m. Saturday morning, part of the wall on the exterior of the building fell onto the road. While the cause is not known, employees suspect the day’s wind could have been a factor. At around 12:10 p.m., there was a combination of insulation and sheetrock strewn around Garfield Ave.

Employees used a forklift to move some of the larger pieces into the garage across the road, while placing smaller chunks of the wall in garbage cans. Traffic cones and barriers were placed on both ends of the sidewalk because employees feared more of the wall could peel off.

Despite the damage, Goodwill is expected to remain open during regular hours.
