A brand-new set of Golden Arches will soon be lighting the way to a local McDonald's at 110 E. Central Entrance.

In announcing the Friday, Dec. 16 opening date for the 120-seat plus Playland restaurant, manager Rick Walczak said that the new location is expected to employ 70 local residents. In addition, most of the contracting, electrical and other construction work was done by area contractors.

A special VIP ribbon cutting ceremony will be held prior to the restaurant's opening. On that day, the restaurant's employees will get a chance to bring their families to the location for a special pre-opening tour and dinner.

Local Duluth city and chamber officials will be on hand to help with the festivities.

The Duluth McDonald's will feature a new looking decor which features a dramatic "'50s style" exterior design that is fairly unique to the area.
