Duluth's long hot summer of road construction just keeps growing, with work on another major thoroughfare -- this time Glenwood Street -- starting today.

Work crews will be removing pavement starting from 60th Avenue East and working their way west to 42nd Avenue East in the Lakeside neighborhood until the 2010 construction season ends, to be finished in 2011.

City officials say the job's contractor will work to keep access to residential properties as much as possible throughout the project.

Starting July 13, weekly progress meetings will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the corner of Glenwood Street and 54th Avenue East.

Representatives from Wagner Construction, Salo Engineering and the city of Duluth will be on hand to discuss the progress of construction and plans for the coming weeks. Residents are invited to attend the meetings to stay informed or to ask any questions. The update also will be available here .
