A Gilbert man was fatally injured when the utility side-by-side he was operating went into a ditch and struck a tree.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said Benjamin Robert Kaiser, 37, was operating the UTV Sunday on Lost Lake Road near Vermilion Trail about seven miles of south Biwabik when the incident occurred around 12:25 p.m. His vehicle went off the road into a ditch on the north side before striking a tree.
In spite of life-saving measures, Kaiser was pronounced dead at the scene.
