Gary and Afton Schmidtke of Esko will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1:30-4 p.m. June 17 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Esko.
Their children are Mark and Sue Schmidtke of Shoreview, Minn., and Chris and Beth Umphress of Apple Valley, Minn. They have five grandchildren.
Gary is a retired band director from Esko. Afton is a retired elementary school teacher for the Cloquet School District.
