Fugitive sex offender arrested in Washington state

A Level 3 sex offender who authorities reported last week might have been headed for northern Minnesota has been arrested in Washington, the Minnesota Department of Corrections said today.

A Level 3 sex offender who authorities reported last week might have been headed for northern Minnesota has been arrested in Washington, the Minnesota Department of Corrections said today.

Logan Mattson, 27, is in custody at Skagit County Jail in Mount Vernon, Wash. Mattson was arrested without incident this afternoon at a gas station in Mount Vernon, said Shari Burt, spokeswoman for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, in a news release.

Mattson was released from the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Rush City on Dec. 24 and was living in Washington under an interstate supervision agreement. Minnesota issued a nationwide warrant for his arrest on April 3 because he had failed to maintain daily contact with his Washington supervising agent.

Mattson has a history of sexual contact with girls ages 5 to 11.
