A strong winter storm will continue to move through the Northland today. The challenge will be the transition of precipitation type near Lake Superior.  Warmer winds off the lake should keep it mostly rain until somewhere around noon. Heavy snow approaching a foot is possible through parts of Itasca, Koochiching and central to northern St. Louis County. Travel will become difficult all over this evening with snow-covered and slippery roads, and low visibility.
