Community Partners in Lake County is offering a new program to give the spouses of Alzheimer's victims and their families support, education and resources needed to care for their loved one at home.
The program is intended for spouse caregivers who still live with an Alzheimer's victim and are taking care of their spouse in their home.
Participants will learn more about Alzheimer's disease and memory loss as well as be assisted in finding resources to help them take care of themselves.
It's hoped the effort will delay nursing-home placement, reduce the impacts of problem behaviors often seen with Alzheimer's disease and decrease caregiver stress.
Community Partners is a nonprofit organization that serves senior citizens and their caregivers in Lake County aimed at helping seniors stay in their homes.
