Democratic U.S. Sen. Al Franken and his Republican challenger, Mike McFadden, will be in Duluth on Wednesday morning for a debate co-sponsored by the Duluth News Tribune and the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.
The debate will be held at 8 a.m. at the Duluth Playhouse in the Depot in downtown Duluth. Tickets are limited and will be distributed in part to Chamber members, with others evenly divided among the candidates to distribute. The debates will be broadcast live at duluthnews
tribune.com and theuptake.org and aired on television on My9.
Questions will be asked by News Tribune Editorial Page Editor Chuck Frederick and by Roger Wedin, director of policy and education at the Chamber.
Wednesday’s event is the first of three candidate debates sponsored by the News Tribune and the Chamber of Commerce to be held in Duluth this fall. The others are:
- Oct. 7: Minnesota 8th District U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan and challengers Stewart Mills and Skip Sandman.
- Oct. 14: Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and challenger Jeff Johnson.
Those two debates also will be held at 8 a.m. at the Duluth Playhouse.
