Good morning, here's your weather discussion for Monday, June 23:
Welcome to the first full week of summer in the Northland. One of the
nice things about living this far north and of course, living next to
the deepest and coldest of the Great Lakes is that is doesn't get that
warm. However, this week will start to feel a little more on the hot side as

temperatures ramp up into the upper 70s to low 80s for most locations. A
bubble of very hot air across the desert southwest will begin to spill
into the mid section of the country by the middle part of the week. The
jet stream or strong upper level winds will continue to meander over our
area as well keeping the chance for isolated afternoon showers and
thunderstorms in the forecast. I don't see any particular day that looks
like a wash out, but there may be a few afternoons this week that see an
hour or two of spotty downpours or thundershowers, just like what we had

over the weekend. The nice thing about the weeks surrounding the summer
solstice is that we have a lot of daylight! Unfortunately, by June 25,
we already start to lose daylight, though keep in mind that the amount
of daylight we lose through the end of June is only a few minutes.
