FOX 21 WEATHER UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2008:
Mostly cloudy and mild, with increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, south winds 10-15, hi: 72, lo: 50.
Everybody has plans on Fridays. Maybe you want to get outside for lunch, get in a round of golf, get out of town, or just knock off at noon and enjoy an early start to the weekend. All those plans may be affected by the weather today. A strong cold front is out to our west, and heading this way. Our dewpoints have been rising, so there's abundant moisture in the air for that front to touch off some pretty good sized thunderstorms, mainly in the late afternoon today, into the evening. There's a very good chance for those storms to continue into early Saturday, and some could be severe, with heavy rains, strong winds and hail. It could be a noisy end to the work week. But again, these storms should hold off until at least late in the afternoon, and more likely will occur in the evening hours. Our highs will be in the low 70s on Friday, only near 60 on Saturday, and in the upper 50s Sunday into next week. So, be sure to enjoy the relative warmth today. There might not be that much left!
