Air Force Four Star Gen. Bruce Carlson will receive the University of Minnesota Duluth's Distinguished Alumni Award Thursday.

Carlson, a 1971 UMD graduate and a Distinguished Graduate of the UMD Air Force ROTC Program, will visit the UMD campus Thursday and Friday to speak to ROTC cadets, faculty and staff. He'll be guest speaker and receive his Distinguished Alumni Award at UMD's AFROTC Fall Banquet Thursday evening at Greysolon Plaza.

Carlson will spend Friday at UMD meeting with students and cadets from the AFROTC program, touring the campus, and attending a luncheon with UMD officials.

A Hibbing native, Carlson commands the Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The command is involved in conducting research, development, test and evaluation services on Air Force weapon systems.
