In all, eight people have now applied to take the place of at large City Councilor Barb Russ, who recently announced her resignation due to health concerns.
The city began taking applications Tuesday, and four candidates stepped forward that first day: Ashlie Castaldo, Chris Adatte, Mark Hakes and Rob Stenberg.
By Thursday, four more candidates had applied, namely: Jennifer Vossen Julsrud, Zak Radzak, Barbara Carr and David W. Montgomery.
The City Clerk's Office will continue to accept applications, but they must be received by no later than 4:30 p.m. June 1.
The Duluth City Council is expected to interview applicants on Thursday, June 4, and winnow the field down to three finalists. Those three finalists will undergo a second round of interviews, with the council expected to make its pick on Monday, June 8.
