SISSETON, S.D. – Authorities have identified the shooter among the four killed in a shooting that also critically wounded another early Saturday at a residence in Sisseton, according to a news release from the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
Colter Richard Arbach, 22, of Sisseton, was identified as one of the dead, according to the late-morning news release. The other victims’ names were not released.
Preliminary investigation results from the Division of Criminal Investigation identify Arbach as the shooter, who then took his own life.
The state’s Attorney General’s Office had asked early Saturday for the public’s help locating Arbach, who was described as armed and dangerous.
Investigators are continuing to locate other individuals who may have been at the scene at the time of the shooting for their involvement or their eyewitness account.
Authorities do not feel that the public is in danger, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing. Agencies assisting include the Sisseton Police Department, Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribal Police, Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
Sisseton is about 90 miles south of Fargo on Interstate 29, and is located on the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation.
