The Hibbing Community College Student Senate will host a forum for DFL candidates running for February's special election to fill the seat of former state Rep. Tony Sertich, DFL-Chisholm.
The forum begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday in HCC's Room L-10. HCC Student Senate President Tabatha Jauhola will moderate the 90-minute, six- to eight-question event.
Five DFLers -- Jeffrey "Jeff" Kletscher, Carly Melin, Shelley Robinson, Raymond Lee Pierce Jr. and John J. Spanish -- filed for the House District 5B seat that Sertich held for 10 years. He resigned last week after Gov. Mark Dayton appointed him commissioner of the Iron Range Resources agency.
All five DFL candidates were invited to the forum, event organizers said. The five will face off in a Feb. 1 primary. The primary's winner will face
Independence Party candidate Cynthia Kafut-Hagen and Republican Paul Jacobson in the Feb. 15 special election.
