A flash flood watch is in effect for parts of the Northland through Friday morning after repeated rounds of thunderstorms have dropped 2 to 4 inches of rain, with more possible overnight.
The watch covers northern and central St. Louis, Lake and Cook counties. It includes the Iron Range, Cook, Orr, Two Harbors, the Boundary Waters and Grand Marais.
The National Weather Service reports that additional rainfall tonight may cause rapid runoff and flash flooding, especially in areas along the North Shore.
