Due to the current risk of wildfires, the National Weather Service issued a red-flag warning until 6 p.m. Sunday for Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods and St. Louis counties.
The warning went into effect Sunday in Northeastern Minnesota due to strong winds and low humidity, according to a news release. People are asked not to burn anything in those counties while the warning is in effect. Any burning that was done recently should be checked to make sure the fire is out.
"Any spark could become a wildfire under Red Flag conditions," the release said.
