Due to the current risk of wildfires, the National Weather Service issued a red-flag warning until 8 p.m. Saturday Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis counties.
The warning went into effect Saturday afternoon in Northeastern Minnesota due to strong winds and low humidity, according to a news release. People are asked not to burn anything in those five counties while the warning is in effect. Any burning that was done recently should be checked to make sure the fire is out.
"Any spark could become a wildfire under Red Flag conditions," the release said.
