One hospitalized after house fire in Chisholm

The occupant of a home was hospitalized following a house fire in Chisholm on Monday night.

The Chisholm Fire Department was called to 418 Fourth St. NW at 11:54 p.m. Monday and found fire coming out of an upstairs bedroom on the north side of the house, according to Chisholm Fire Chief Bob Brown. The fire was contained to the bedroom and the attic. The house’s only occupant had escaped from the house, but went back in while it was on fire and suffered minor injuries.

“Once you’re out, stay out,” Brown cautioned. “That’s always critical. Keep out, stay out.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there isn’t a cost estimate for damage yet, Brown said. Hibbing and Buhl fire departments also responded.
