Fire takes cabin on Pequaywan Lake

A cabin and garage were a total loss following a Tuesday morning fire on the west shore of Pequaywan Lake north of Duluth. Firefighters "worked tirelessly as they attempted to extinguish flames," a St. Louis County Sheriff's Office news release said.

A cabin and garage were a total loss following a Tuesday morning fire on the west shore of Pequaywan Lake north of Duluth.

Firefighters “worked tirelessly as they attempted to extinguish flames,” a St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office news release said.

No one was home at the time of the fire at 8944 W. Branch Road in Pequaywan Township.

The fire occurred at 8:06 a.m., the sheriff’s office said, and the cause remains under investigation.

The Pequaywan Lake and Brimson fire departments responded to the blaze, as well as sheriff’s office deputies.
