No one was injured late Wednesday during an electrical fire at Hibbing Taconite.

Fire crews responded to the plant shortly before 11 p.m. for a structure fire in the pellet plant portion of the facility, Battalion Chief Andy Anderson of the Hibbing Fire Department said.

“Upon arrival we found a pretty significant smoke condition and we isolated it to a (master control center) room - one of several small electrical rooms based around the plant,” Anderson said. “It was an electrical fire and crews were able to extinguish it pretty quickly using dry chemicals.”

Crews also assisted Hibbing Taconite employees with ventilating the building.
