A fire caused damage estimated in excess of $80,000 to a home in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood Wednesday. No one was injured.
The Duluth Fire Department reported that crews were called to a home at 2411 W. Seventh St. just after 3:30 p.m., on a report that the house was full of smoke. The first firefighters on the scene spotted no signs of fire outside the structure, but once inside found smoke filling the main floor from floor to ceiling. Flames started to intensify as they began to battle the fire.
Crews searched for possible trapped occupants, but later learned that no one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was quickly brought under control, and crews remained on the scene for about two hours searching for hot spots.
The home suffered extensive smoke, fire and water damage throughout the structure, with damage estimated in excess of $80,000, the fire department reported. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical issue, officials said, but remains under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office.
