A fire early Friday caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to a duplex in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
According to the Duluth Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 2407 W. Third St. at 12:05 a.m. On arrival, firefighters found a kitchen fire in the second-floor unit of the two-story building.
Crews evacuated the occupants of the first-floor apartment; no one was in the upstairs unit at the time of the blaze.
The fire, which officials said was caused by a stove left on, was contained to the kitchen of the upper unit and was quickly extinguished. No one was injured.
Damage was estimated at $15,000 to the structure and $5,000 to contents. The upper unit was not habitable after the fire, officials said. The lower unit had some smoke odor.
