Unofficial election results indicate that Zack Filipovich and Barb Russ will be Duluth's next At Large city councilors.

Filipovich, was the top vote-getter in the News Tribune's count, receiving the nod from a little more than 55 percent of Duluthians who cast ballots Tuesday. The 23-year-old accountant stands to become the youngest person ever elected to the City Council

Russ, a 64-year-old retired assistant county attorney, came in close behind with 53 percent of voters -- enough to grab the second open seat. All citizens of the city were entitled to vote for two At Large candidates.

Russ edged out Ryan Stauber, a 29-year-old 911 dispatcher, who received support from nearly 45 percent of voters.

Rounding out the pack with a little more than 14 percent was Ray "Skip" Sandman, a 59-year-old retired corrections officer and Vietnam veteran now serving as a cultural adviser for the Mash Ka Wisen Treatment Center.

Neither of the two incumbent At Large city councilors whose terms are set to expire chose to seek re-election. Jim Stauber, Ryan Stauber's father, opted instead to run for the St. Louis County Board. Meanwhile, Dan Hartman said he would be unable to serve another term due to the demands of his new job as director of Glensheen Mansion.
