FEMA offers hunger relief money in St. Louis County

The federal government has pledged $158,000 for emergency food and shelter programs in St. Louis County as an area hard-hit by the ongoing economic recession.

The federal government has pledged $158,000 for emergency food and shelter programs in St. Louis County as an area hard-hit by the ongoing economic recession.

The money is available to nonprofit and government agencies that provide emergency relief to the homeless and hungry. It is offered under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program overseen by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The deadline for agencies to apply is Jan. 19.
