Two Twin Ports media leaders have been named to new positions in one of their companies. John B. Murphy, Superior, has been appointed chairman of the board of the Evening Telegram Company, and Elizabeth Murphy Burns, Duluth, has been elected president.
The two, along with James M. McGinnis and Charlie Johnson, are also shareholders in Murphy McGinnis Media, which owns the Duluth Budgeteer News.
The Evening Telegram Company is a Superior-based multimedia firm with print and broadcast outlets in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Washington.
Murphy previously served as president of the company, a position he has held since 1982.
Burns served as vice president of the company since 1982. In addition to her new duties, Burns retains the role of president of the Morgan Murphy Stations, overseeing broadcast and other media companies in Washington and Wisconsin.
George A. Nelson, Madison, Wis., assumes the position of executive vice president, after serving for 18 years as vice president of finance and administration of the company.
Glenn Krieg, Madison, Wis., steps into the position of chief financial officer of the Morgan Murphy Stations, having served since 1996 as controller for Television Wisconsin, Inc., in Madison.
