Aside from the mediocre food and small hotel arrangements, Espana was more than a dream. The sightseeing was remarkable, as well as the friendly people who inhabitated such a history filled region. I went to Spain with six other avid travelers, Emily Matuseski, Laura Schroeder, Logan Sales, Craig Bertani, Ryan Gallagher, and Senora Melchert, a spanish teacher at East. We munched our way through Barcelona, taking into account the "real" Spanish way of life, eating small portions throughout the day and then a large meal at around 11 at night. While our stomaches ached from a diet change and feet hurt from walking what seemed like a marathon every day, we did in fact observe Christopher Colombus pointing the wrong way, human statues, a fresh market full of fruit and meats, and got to experience firsthand how much Spaniards truley love their pets. We met up with a bundle of Sophomores from MA on the third day in Madrid and were escorted through the rest of Spain by Africa, our delightful local guide and Carlos, the shy bus driver. Sevilla, Toledo, Torremolinos, and Morrocco are just a few of the cities we ventured to, soaking in the scenery and way of life like sponges. I would go back to Spain in a heartbeat, as I konw the others would, but this time, we would leave the rain at home.
Espanya... with a Y?
