Endurance racing: Horns first in Superior 100

John Horns, 49, of Edina, Minn., won Saturday's Superior 100 Mile race on the Superior Hiking Trail from Gooseberry Falls to Lutsen in 24 hours, 13 minutes, 53 seconds. Adam Schwartz-Lowe, 38, of Minneapolis was second in 24:20:57 and Matt Aro, 32, of Superior was third in 25:45:43. Leading the women's division was Sheryl Wheeler, 48, of Rhinebeck, N.Y., in 27:19:17.

In the accompanying 50-mile race, the winners were Steve English and Christi Nowak, 23, a Minnesota Duluth medical school student, and in the 26.2-mile marathon, the winners were Dusty Olson, 38, of Duluth and Marcia Migay, 35, of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Times were not available Sunday.
