Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank raised $55,892 at the 25th Annual Empty Bowl event at the Depot in Duluth on Monday.
The amount raised will be enough for Second Harvest to distribute enough food for over 140,000 meals for 180 northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin nonprofit programs and approximately 44,000 people.
“It’s proof that even after 25 years people still love this event,” said Shaye Moris, Second Harvest’s executive director. “We are so grateful for all those who support it ensuring so many meals for our neighbors in need throughout northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.”
Since the start of the event in 1994, Empty Bowl has raised more than $1.1 million with the total number of meals provided by Second Harvest from proceeds from the event at more than 3.3 million.
