Eight mayors gathered at the Duluth Depot building Wednesday morning to voice their support for Rep. Jim Oberstar's re-election bid.
Duluth Mayor Don Ness described Oberstar,
D-Minn., as an invaluable partner in Washington.
"We all know how responsive he is. He is a man who gets the job done."
Randy Bolen of Two Harbors praised Oberstar for his role in bringing a high-speed fiber optic network to northern Minnesota and predicted it will be "a catalyst for sustainable development."

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman said Oberstar understands how Minnesota cities' fortunes are intertwined.
"We all do better when we all do better," quipped Coleman.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak recalled the collapse of the Interstate 35 bridge and credited Oberstar for his tireless efforts to make sure such an event never happens again. He said Oberstar "used what happened to show how our country's infrastructure has been allowed to crumble and to make the case that we need to take action."
Other mayors also weighing in for Oberstar included La Prairie Mayor Mike Fall, Proctor Mayor Steve Anderson, Cloquet Mayor Bruce Algren and Tower Mayor Stephen Abrahamson.
