Here's another one in the informal series we call "Cool Items Long Lost on the Eh? Desk."
Walt Bruley sent it a couple of months ago after taking a walking tour of the new Duluth Entertainment Convention Center arena with a group of fellow DECC employees.
On the tour, they spotted writing on the north end of the Auditorium wall. Bruley said that section of wall is now part of the new building, but the old facing was removed as a new concrete block wall was being built in front of it. That meant the raw concrete wall was exposed for the first time in more than 43 years.
"As it was being constructed in the '60s, it would seem that workers figured out this wall would not ever see the light of day and decided to autograph it," Bruley wrote.
He sent a photo: It looks like they misspelled the word "built" so they crossed that out and scratched, "Konstructed 1872 By Wes + John."

Bruley thinks 1872 might have been a trade union (or were they joking about the year?), but he's wondering if anyone knows who Wes and John are.

Study up for summer
Gardeners get through winter by flipping through landscaping books and seed catalogs.
Boaters can get their own winter escape by signing up for the Safe Boating Course offered by the Duluth Sail and Power Squadron. It starts Tuesday and continues Tuesday nights for eight weeks at Duluth Central High School.
Registration is $65 but additional family members are a bargain at
$5 each.

Design a living legacy
Speaking of gardens (were we speaking of gardens?), you know you could design a whole beautiful garden that somebody else would have to take care of, but you have to do it by Wednesday.
The Superior Business Improvement District and the city of Superior are inviting local gardeners to submit design plans for the large annual bed just northwest of the Superior Public Library at Center City Park, 1501 Tower Ave.
The winner will be announced Jan. 20. He or she will get $500 in BID Bucks and, more importantly, will get to stroll through the garden all summer without worrying about the weeding.
