Papa's cooking for detained hiker

Why are the Papa Murphy's pizza shops in Duluth and Superior raising money for three hikers being detained in Iran?

Because one of the hikers is the brother of a Papa Murphy's manager in Duluth.

Nicole Lindstrom's brother, 27-year-old Shane Bauer, and two friends were looking for a waterfall in Iraq on July 31 when they accidentally crossed the border into Iran.

Lindstrom says she learned last week the three have been charged with crossing the border illegally. The U.S. State Department appealing to Iran to release the hikers.

Meanwhile Lindstrom is trying to raise money and awareness with events in the Twin Ports.

Papa Murphy's will donate $3 for every family-sized pizza they sell today, and on Sept. 27 the Spiritual Deli in Duluth will hold an evening of food, live music and a silent auction to benefit the hikers' families.
