November is the home stretch for Katz Tatz for Tots, an effort launched last April to collect toys to donate to the Superior Fire Department’s larger toy drive, which then distributes the gifts to those in need. It will end Nov. 25.
This is the second year Gerald Osgan, 35, of Superior organized the effort. Last year four tattoo parlors were involved. This year it’s just one - Katz Tatz, 820 Tower Ave. in Superior - that is a drop spot for toys. If people want tattoos, they can bring in a toy and receive a discount. But getting a tattoo is by no means mandatory.
The kinds of toys being accepted range from those for toddlers to teenagers, Osgan said.
“That way we get a variety of things, not just ones for toddlers,” said Osgan, who said he benefitted from the Fire Department program when he was a child. “I wanted to give back to my community and help out.”
