If you've ever wanted to walk through a colon -- and Eh? is positively certain you have -- your chance is coming next week.

A huge inflatable colon will be open for self-guided mini tours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic First Street Building, 420 E. First St.

It's a versatile colon, Essentia Health tells us, showing both healthy pink tissue, the growths known as polyps and a bright red mass from advanced colon cancer.

It's also a traveling colon, with stops scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 11 at Essentia Health-Virginia and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15 at St. Mary's Hospital-Superior.

The point is to call people's attention to the risk factors and symptoms of colon cancer, which is the No. 2 cause of cancer death in the United States, Essentia Health says in a news release. It adds that more Americans are diagnosed with colon cancer each year than the populations of Duluth and Superior combined.
