Thousands of cyclists will be arriving in the Twin Ports today ahead of this weekend’s 36th annual MS 150 bike ride from Proctor to the Twin Cities.

Organizers expect nearly 4,000 participants for the two-day, 150-mile ride to raise money to support programs and research for those living with multiple sclerosis in the Upper Midwest.

Many cyclists will camp out tonight at Proctor High School, and then begin the ride starting at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, following the Willard Munger State Trail.

Participants will spend Saturday night at Grand Casino Hinckley, and then continue riding Sunday to finish at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn.

The event is the first of two Bike MS events to be held in the Duluth area this summer. The Bike MS TRAM (The Ride Across Minnesota), to be held July 23-28, will start and finish at the South St. Louis County Fairgrounds, and includes an overnight stop at Spirit Mountain.
