The Duluth School Board meeting room will be closed to the public and media when six superintendent finalists are interviewed this week, but a closed-circuit feed will be available within the building.
The board restricted in-person access due to the city of Duluth's emergency declaration over the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a live video feed will be available in the gymnasium at Historic Old Central High School, 215 N. 1st Avenue East, for the meetings at 4 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday. Members of the public can use the Third Street entrance, and disability access will be accommodated.
Candidates are expected to be interviewed remotely, and the board will narrow the field for second-round interviews scheduled for next week.
The board decided Tuesday that it would record the interviews but not broadcast them live due to concerns that candidates interviewing Friday would be at an advantage. Recordings will be made available on the district’s YouTube channel immediately following Friday's session.
