The winners of the 2020 Lake Superior School District spelling bee were champion Two Harbors High School eighth-grader Peter Jonson, second place THHS eighth-grader Anja Olsen, and third place Emily Peterson, a seventh-grader at William Kelley Schools.

The annual spelling bee was held on Thursday, Jan. 9. Students representing grades 5-8 from each building in the district participated.

The bee is registered with Scripps National Spelling Bee. The final three spellers from the district bee are invited to participate in the Regional Bee held in Mountain Iron on Thursday, Feb. 6. Winners at the regional bee advance to the multi-region bee.

North Shore Federal Credit Union sponsored the event and provided prizes for the winners.
